March 7 (BTA) – The number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Bulgaria reached 259,811, after 10,473 tests identified 1,426 new infections on Saturday, according to data posted on https://coronavirus.bg/ on Sunday. The test positivity rate now stands at 13.62 per cent. A total of 1,741,614 tests have been performed in this country since the first infections were diagnosed on March 8, 2020. Sofia City Region tops the list of new cases with 406 positive tests, followed by Bourgas Region with 127 cases and Varna Region with 112. The active cases are 36,716. Currently, the hospitalized patients number 5,629, including 452 in intensive care. The infected medical staff have reached 10,446, with 26 new cases registered on Saturday. Another 584 COVID-19 patients have recovered over the last 24 hours, bringing the total to 212,502. Twenty-two fatalities were reported, and the death toll now adds up to 10,593. With 2,654 new inoculations over the last 24 hours, 287,118 persons in aggregate have been vaccinated against the coronavirus, of whom 50,051 have received both doses. RY/DS /ДЛ/
