Two More Two Hotspots of Avian Flu Confirmed in Pleven Region

The Bulgarian Food Safety Agency confirmed two more hotspots of avian influenza in Slavyanovo, Pleven Region (Northern Bulgaria) on Saturday. The two farms belonging to the same owner are raising a total of over 160,000 Pekin ducks. Measures to control the disease have been put in place and a safety and a monitoring zone have been designated around the farms.
The infected birds and their contacts in the four farms will be culled under official supervision, in a way that prevents the infection from of spreading. 
On Friday the Agency reported of four hotspots of avian flu in the area.
