– National Day of Sweden: Election of Gustav Vasa as King in 1523, reestablishing Sweden as independent country.
On this date in Bulgarian history:
1879: Bulgarian National Bank performs its first monetary transaction, accepting 8,687,043 francs deposit from State. 
1914: Diplomatic relations established with Sweden at legation level (upgraded to embassy level on January 14, 1964).
1935: Ivan Vazov Museum House opens in national poet’s native town Sopot (Central Bulgaria).
1977: Diplomatic relations established with Comoros.
1990: Diplomatic relations established with Namibia.
2006: Bulgarian Tourist Industry Union established on initiative of Bulgarian Association of Travel Agents (BATA), Bulgarian Tourist Chamber and Bulgarian Hotel and Restaurant Association.
