The GERB-UDF parliamentary group will stay out of the plenary until it has to vote an expected proposal for a new cabinet, GERB-UDF floor leader Desislava Atanassova told a news briefing here on Thursday. The reason for that is Parliament’s decision Thursday to hold a hearing of outgoing Prime Minister Kiril Petkov and Energy Minister Alexander Nikolov on the supply and price of natural gas behind closed doors.
The hearing was proposed by GERB-UDF MP Delyan Dobrev but his party wanted it to be public. “There is no point for our parliamentary group to attend parliamentary sittings, to ensure quorum in this failed and agonizing National Assembly,” Atanassova said.
Atanassova emphasized that all 59 GERB-UDF MPs will be present at plenary to vote against the election of a cabinet led by Continue the Change prime minister designate Assen Vassilev.
