On this date in Bulgarian history:
1941: Bulgaria declares war on Britain and the United States during World War II (1939-1945).
1950: The Order of Cyril and Methodius is instituted. 
1991: Diplomatic relations are established with Ukraine.
2002: The Copenhagen European Council sets 2007 as the target year for Bulgaria’s and Romania’s EU accession.
