Socialist Party Holds Congress

The Bulgarian Socialist Party (BSP) is holding a congress Saturday. A total of 950 candidates from the local party chapters across the country will attend.
The inter-party opposition have accused the party leadership of substituting tends of the delegates to secure support for its positions.
The BSP press office issued a press release to deny the accusations, saying that only the local conferences can replace congress delegates – not the central party leadership. It also said that any changes in the representation have been done in keeping with the party statute.
The leader of the Sofia chapter of BSP, Ivan Takov, urged the fellow party members to leave aside the divisions and to show common sense during the congress. He said that the divisions in the party are caused by personal issues, are very dangerous for the party and have the capacity to destroy it.
