RSV 421 Anchors at Livingston Island

The Bulgarian naval research vessel Sv. Sv. Kiril i Metodii (RSV 421) dropped anchor at Livingston Island at 18:44 hrs local time (23:44 hrs Bulgarian time) on February 13. The ship arrived on schedule and in good weather conditions.
Livingston Island is home to the Bulgarian Antarctic Base.
The vessel’s Commanding Officer, Commander Nikolay Danailov said: “I am glad that the passage was successful. The weather was benign and I am extremely grateful to the elements. When you treat the ocean and the sea with respect, you will be rewarded. Ever good planning, ever cautious steps and resistance to external influences and factors, believing in yourself, in your own will and the crew’s will, the character and the abilities of our wonderful crew.”
BTA’s Daily News editor Konstantin Karagyozov is the only member of the media who is travelling on board the ship to Livingston Island and back, who will cover the Bulgarian expedition on site throughout the stay in Antarctica.
