“Our history, customs and culture are our wealth. I encourage the preservation and protection of traditions because diversity is wealth,“ said MEP Ilhan Kyuchyuk (Movement for Rights and Freedoms) and co-president of the Alliance of Liberals and Democrats for Europe during a workshop on language, culture, religion, art and NGOs, which was held in Burgas, the press office of the Movement for Rights and Freedoms said.
The event was organized for the seventh time with the support of the MEP, and Turkish Ambassador Aylin Sekizkok was a special guest. This year’s edition brought together representatives of the non-governmental sector, leaders of folklore formations, poets, writers, as well as activists of Turkish culture, who make efforts to preserve the elements of Turkish identity – language, lifestyle, traditions. This year’s edition focuses on the preservation and dissemination of Turkish cultural heritage in Bulgaria as well as mother tongue education in Bulgaria and the Western Balkan countries.
Kyuchyuk commented on developments in the field of language, culture, religion and art, historical heritage, cultural identity, as well as future prospects for intercultural exchange and cooperation. Attending were MPs Sevim Ali, Esheref Esheref, the Regional Council of the MRF, mayors and municipal councilors from the Burgas region.
The program of the event also includes discussions on Sunday.
