Sofia Quartet to Perform Works by Grieg and Shostakovich

Sofia Quartet, Sofia Philharmonic’s oldest quartet, will perform Edvard Grieg’s String Quartet No.1 Op. 27 and Dmitri Shostakovich’s String Quartet No.4 Op. 83 at the Bulgaria Chamber Hall on February 5.
Grieg elevated Norwegian music to the summits of world classics and turned Norway’s culture into his message to other peoples.
Dmitri Shostakovich’s work takes a special place in 20th century music, as he wrote operas, orchestral, chamber and vocal pieces, and music for the cinema and theatre.
Sofia Quartet is a world level ensemble with numerous concerts in Bulgaria and abroad, a large discography and a 40-year long history. It has established itself as a leading chamber ensemble to public and critical acclaim and its repertoire includes classical Viennese and modern pieces.
