Bulgaria’s Olympian Ivet Goranova Wins Gold at Karate Tournament in Serbia

Olympic champion from Tokyo 2020 Ivet Goranova won a gold medal at the 53rd edition of the international karate tournament “Golden Belt” in Cacak, Serbia.
Goranova, representing Karate Club Petromax, came first in the 61 kg kumite category, which is higher than her usual weight class of 55 kg. She achieved four wins on the way to success, and in the final she prevailed 1-0 over Emina Sipovic (Bosnia and Herzegovina).
In the men’s up to 60 kg category, Velin Ivanov (Club Levski) placed fifth.
The competition was attended by athletes from France, Croatia, Serbia, Bulgaria, North Macedonia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Turkiye, Slovakia, Italy, Russia, Montenegro, Greece, Romania, Hungary, Sweden and others.
